the saga continues

I am continuing to work on the purple baby sweater but I don't seem to have much time for it. I sat down with my boyfriend and was working away while he was watching TV but I could not stand to sit there while he flipped through the stations. The things he did chose to watch from our 500 channels was driving me crazy. Something about a bionic woman and other things that reminded me too much of daytime TV. I don't watch a bunch of TV and would like to find a show the two of us can watch together but the remote would have to be taken away from him during this "special" time. I finally gave up, put my knitting away and got up to move my summer clothes to the spare bedroom closet and my winter stuff to closet in our room. It took over a half an hour but in the end I was glad it was done. This morning it was very cold so I was especially glad it was done. I didn't have to run upstairs to get a warm outfit together. I have gone to dragging my knitting bag all over with me once again. I got quite a bit done yesterday after my son's football game, that is until I remembered I wanted a hat book then I spent my time running over to the knitting shop for a book. A successful trip none the less and now I have some more projects to do. I was thinking Christmas presents for the kids. I need to get to work.

Work

I have not been able to knit for the past few days. Work has been the culprit. I worked 12 hours today which did not leave any time for doing anything I wanted to do, especially knitting. I promised a pregnant friend of mine I will make her a sweater for her baby who is due in about a month. I don't think she expects it will be done by the time he is born but before the end of the year is probably reasonable since I would like him to be able to wear it. My idea about doing this blog to get me motivated to knit again is working. I feel guilty when I have not worked on my current projects. I want the finish them up, post pictures and start fresh. I plan on working on and maybe finishing one baby sweater tomorrow. We will see, the gardens sure need weeding too.....

So far, so good

Amazingly enough this blogging thing worked out quit nicely the first day. I went home and dug out my three projects and worked on one of the baby sweaters. I sewed it together most of the way and left it out on the kitchen counter where I it will be available to me.

When I dug out the cotton number I have been knitting myself I was surprised to find that I am only about five inches into the second sleeve and the rest of the pieces were not there. I panicked. In the middle of making dinner and helping the kids with their homework I kept running downstairs to our unfinished basement to look at where the rest could be.

Since the time I started this sweater and now I moved to a new home and all my extra stuff is topsy turvy. I also know I have a terrible habit of trowing everything out and was horrified that I might have tossed it in the garbage as I have done to so many other seemingly unimportant (at the time) things. Only later to put two and two together and kick myself in the posterior. But all the running up and down paid off and I found the other three pieces of this sweater and am going to finish it up as soon as the baby sweaters are done. I would say by the first snow but with the crazy weather here in the City of Salt, it has already snowed in the valley.

Part of my knitting dilemma is a place to knit. I don't have a place of my own in my new house that I like to knit. My great room is most often taken up by my boyfriend and no he doesn't take up all the room but he has the most annoying habit of changing the channel so much that it is near to impossible to watch TV with him. The living room has no TV or radio and is inhabited by my boyfriend's precious white furniture that I am quite frankly afraid to sit on for any amount of time. The office has not sitting space besides the floor and office chair. My youngest child (15) is often found in here watching something I cannot tolerate on TV and cruising the Internet. I don't like to knit in my bed and have not bought a easy chair for the landing or my room like I have wanted so I ended up in the spare bedroom. My oldest child is often found here watching TV or playing X box or PlayStation but he was tired and went to bed early. In the summer I would often knit on my porch but the fall has left that inhospitable and my knitting chair is now being taken up by a scary guy, for Halloween purposes.

Maybe that easy chair for my room and/or landing will have to start taking precedence.

Another new Blog

This blog has been created by me and for me to catalog my adventures in knitting. I LOVE to knit. I know it is sort of an old fashioned pass time but I refuse to give it up and actually have no reason to. I live a very busy life and my knitting suffers at the hands of kids, work, boyfriend, housework, working out, etc. The end result is the precious time I do get to knit I enjoy immensely. I currently have three projects in the work. I started a cotton cardigan for myself last year, thinking I would have it finished by this winter. Winter is well on its way and I have not touched the thing in over seven months. I have two baby sweaters going, both cardigans as well. Actually the baby sweaters are all knitted and all I need to to is sew them together and do the edge work. I am planning to post pictures of these little treasures and I am hoping this will get me knitting so I don't seem so lazy. The adventure begins.....on the Internet at least.
